Reminds me of a phrase I heard long ago, "Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But shout it at them in German, because life is also terrifying and confusing."
That video reminds me of how my Italian immigrant great grandparents spoke ANYTHING to us, in Italian. Love, scolding, good morning…it all sounded like an accusation. 🤣
I really appreciated The NY Times article about male friendships. I’ve often felt that men are put into a box - there’s prescribed allowed behavior and anything that seems too feminine (which are often the building blocks of relationships) is not acceptable.
It’s also a reminder for all - that we need to invest in our relationships and not live life thru our screens.
Highly recommend the first part of Wolf Hall from the BBC as well. Currently doing a slow read of the books in the Wolf Hall trilogy here on Substack with Simon Haisell. Excellent way to delve into this complicated and fascinating era. Hilary Mantel was brilliant
I agree with you about Wolf Hall. Amazing production and it made me grateful for today’s issues. Almost. The horrid behavior of kings and their advisors is truly terrible. We don’t need kings! Also, for all those that think that “uncivilized people “are the problem, well, those of us of European descent have quite the ancestors.

Wolf Hall, 100%. Beginning to end. It's a must watch!

Wolf Hall: Every. Aspect. YES! I especially like to focus on the setting and costume details 😍
