Happy Friday, my fellow suffering beings. Each week, I share two things I’m digging right now (books, TV shows, movies, music, and the like) plus one online video of nearly zero cultural merit.
The Narrow Road to the Deep North, on Amazon Prime: A beautifully shot, elegantly paced WWII epic starring Jacob Elordi. I’m only partway through, but it seems to be about time, romantic love, cruelty, and more.
Beddy Rays. I talked a few weeks ago about Australian Pub Rock, one of my new favorite genres. This band, a stalwart of the scene, is out with a new full-length, which contains multiple bangers.
These women are awesome.
P.S. Shameless plug: if you want to subtly (or not-so-subtly) advertise your meditation habit, check out our merch. It’s tasteful, I swear. Right this way.
Agree or disagree with these recommendations? Subscribers can comment on this and all other posts. You can also chat with me, my staff, pod guests, and one another. And there’s lots more: ad-free versions of my podcast; cheatsheets for every episode (which include time-stamped highlights and full transcripts); and twice-monthly live video sessions where I guide meditations and take questions. The next one is Tuesday, May 6 at 3:30pm ET. Join the party.
Love the music clip. What a brilliant sound and the string instrument reminds of the film Kubo and the Two Strings. A beautifully made stop motion animated film thats entertaining for kids and adults alike. There's also a great cover of While my Guitar Gently Weeps over the end credits.
Both Aussie things - woohoo!
I love the way you post just two things you’re into right now. I find the big lists so many people post excessive and overwhelming. Less is more!
